This 2 day, hands-on class, September 6-7 covers the fundamentals of off-grid renewable energy system design and installation for those who are considering moving off the grid, or want a more thorough knowledge of the system they already have. System sizing and siting, photovolaic arrays, wind turbines, battery banks, backup generators, wiring, safety disconnects and more are covered. Students get hands on experience, participate in a half day of site tours in the Masonville area, and will receive 16 Continuing Education Credit Hours from NABCEP and IREC.

While solar energy is widely understood at the most basic level by most, wind energy at the small, home scale is far more complicated and is generally misunderstood by both the public and the news media. This course presents all the basics of wind power in an easy-to-understand format, then covers all the important details needed to design and install a successful small wind power system for home or business. Participants will receive 8 Continuing Education Credit Hours from NABCEP and IREC.
